How do I maintain my Yanchi bamboo flooring?
Where does Yanchi bamboo flooring come from? Yanchi bamboo flooring comes from one of the main bamboo flooring manufacturers in China which, has been producing bamboo products for over ten years. All Yanchi bamboo flooring material is carefully selected before being approved to be manufactured into floors. The bamboo itself is a grass which grows to over 80 feet tall in only five to six years. After it is harvested it is split and flattened, before being laminated together under high pressure and adding an environmentally safe adhesive. The bamboo flooring planks are then treated with hydrogen peroxide to eliminate any mildew and kiln-dried to 8-10% moisture content.
What colors are available?
Yanchi bamboo flooring has two main colors. One is natural blond color and the other is carbonized brown color. Carbonization is a boiling process, whereby the bamboo is heated to brown the natural sugars in the bamboo.
How hard is Yanchi bamboo flooring? When tested according to the standards of the National Wood Flooring Association Test (Janka Ball Hardness Test), it shows an average hardness of 1320 PSI, which is comparable with Northern Red Oak. The carbonization process reduces the result to 1010 PSI, or approximately the strength if walnut.
